A studio is a place of study. Use the necessity of production as an excuse to study. Everyone will benefit.

Design Thinking for Educators

Just days after my own workshop with @JeroenBottema at @InHolland on the exact same topic @DesignThinkers posted this link! Great resource!

A true bubble is when something is over-valued and intensely believed. Education may be the only thing people still believe in in the United States. To question education is really dangerous. It is the absolute taboo. It’s like telling the world there’s no Santa Claus.

This movie on the Learning Lab changed my life. It was not only inspiration and point of reference for my own learning journey during the last year, I also want to thank Victor van Doorn and Thieu Besselink for sharing themselves and for becoming friends.

Knowmadic Learning Lab @ Berlin – what it was like!

Berlin, Wednesday evening, in a School Library Berlin Mitte – a bunch of people sitting together in a circle, dreaming about their future, sharing their love-letters-adressed-to-themselves, coloring, speaking and listening to a walnut. The Knowmadic Learning Lab was a workshop created by FranziskaBrockNaomi and Manuel from the Knowmads. It was all about a collaborative space filled with curious people of many different disciplines, great energy, lots of papers + pencils, and of course, a lot of books from the library.

Thanks again to everybody who was there: especially Frauke Godat for arranging everything on site, Elias Barrasch for the pictures and to Andrea Scheer for writing this blog post. Follow the link to read the whole story and I hope to see you at one of our upcoming labs.

Knowmads - Graduating Members Tribe 1

In an intensive week with our Tribe 1 we listened to their “Rite of Passage” presentations. It was astonishing, learning-full, emotional and fun to listen to their presentations, and hear from them how they experienced the year. The students used very different means in their final presentations. It showed that although they all went trough the same program they all learned something else. We are very proud of our first official graduates of Knowmads and will keep on supporting them with the activities they will undertake. The students are moving from being a student here towards being an entrepreneur as part of the Knowmads platform. We will do a Tribal Trip with them next week to close down their year.

The real meaning of travel, like that of a conversation by the fireside, is the discovery of oneself through contact with other people, and its condition is self-commitment in the dialogue.

Knowmadic Learning Lab goes Berlin

Enter the Knowmadic learning laboratory: A collaborative space filled with paintbrushes, pencils, and positive energy.

Date: February 2nd, 5pm-9pm

Stay tuned for place, people and program on the Facebook event page.

Knowmadic values are based on breakthrough, autonomy, interconnectedness, purpose, mastery, and community. Knowmads believe in forming a tribe where everyone has something to contribute.

Instead of using a fixed program, we will design a workshop based on the elements of fearlessness, growth, self-awareness, and diversity.

This means we do not incorporate a specific set of “tools”, but will instead explore the space that is created by the people who are present; sensing what is needed and what is emerging from the environment in an inclusive, peer-learning process based on the following questions:

  • I = Who am I and why am I here?
  • We = How can we create a safe space together where we can grow from within?
  • The World= How can I bring my true self into the world?

The goal of this process is to place you on the beginning of a renewed learning journey with yourself and others. We aim to enable you to find the right questions within a community and believe the answers will come to you along the way as you continue on your own unique learning path.

Participants are asked to bring a meaningful object that holds a story you’d like to share with the group.
